Stingray Tank Mates

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well, I recommend definitely using a longshank hook. For bait a small mudcat with the spines clipped off. they fight fairly well for the first 5 minutes but then give up fairly easy.

They are really difficult to clean. We used to use a hatchet and a hammer to cut through that armored skin and then peel them out of it.

If you soak the meat in buttermilk in the frig overnight and fry it dark after coating in corn meal, it's not too bad.

you do know that normally those rays are salt water and its gonna piss a lot right?

Yes I do. The urea retention causes increased osmotic pressure so yeah they pee alot. My filtration is currently at about 8x.

While D. Sabina is a marine species, the Florida F/W Stingray have been landlocked for nearly 5 decades and are classified by Florida Fish and Game as a freshwater fish. But! They are capable of reconverting back to a marine habitat if acclimated properly. Weird, huh?

not if you rsearch bullshark
