Stingray tankmate....?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Agreed, mine was dog tame and ate out of my hand every day, he was at 2ft in a year and then one day squeezed out of the smallest gap and died....was totally gutted ans will not have another as too many jump out, it doesn't seem fair to me.
I've only lost the one but it isn't too hard. Just have to keep the tank sealed well. I have saran wrap taped over every crack and hole except for the lid on the front which I keep a decent sized rock on top of. I think the thing about keeping one with rays is that you may need to have more access to the tank more often than you'd like to reseal the tank.

they arnt that bad i have a 12 inch fiire eel with my 2 pups they get along great !!! the fire eel eats any leftover scraps that the rays miss

my fire and tyretrack ended life when placed into one of my ray tanks my male hybrid ate them fire was 14-15 inch tyre was 13 inch hybrid was 12 inch at the time!! he even ate a BG knife at 14 inch!

wouldnt trust rays with worm like fish

mind saying that this male hybrid has a pop at my bass at 10" they tend to keep out his way now when hes on the hunt for food!! but hes never bothered the arows or tigerfish????? seems selective or just a fussy feeder lol:ROFL:

My 13" black male also had a nice 7" indo didn't even bother to eat it just took the head off, expensive taste lol

My fire eel just died last night, sad, so wanted one spent the 40.00 on a good size one and after I think 2 weeks or so got stuck under a rock and died, Very sad. I might get another one sometime but I think that will be a while.

This may be the wrong thread but unless a rock fell on the eel I cannot see how it would get stuck or die, surely if stuck then it would just be stuck, it is not as if it would drown?

I think a lot of these seen in shops are non eating, stressed wild caught fish and many never feed and are overcome by parasites.
