just got myself a new 100g (UK) tank and i want to get a stingray; motoro or reticulated. i was wondering if they can live with cory cats eg sterbai's and peppered.

I wouldn't even try it do a search in the stingray forum for tank mates lots of threads about it and advice

I'm sure I remember seeing a picture somewhere of a predator with a cory stuck in it's mouth and the cory's dorsal spine is sticking out through the top of it's head! :WHOA: (Can't find it again)

You''l find some people have successfully kept clown loaches with rays. I think there is a risk of predation though, certainly with any bottom dwelling fish that a ray can catch.

Edit:
Clown loaches have sharp spines too which could potentially injure a predator!

lol i remember the guy at my local lfs telling me about a oscar with a cory stuck in its mouth, they both died. mite get sum clown loach first and grow them up alot and then buy a stingray

Sounds like a plan. Clown loaches are great fish to keep. It'll give you some time aswell to research stingrays and get prepared for them - the more you look into it, the more you'll find there's a lot to think about before you buy a ray.

Good luck.

that's true... start with the loaches... rays are too delicatte, but if you do buy a ray, get a motoro, it's a lot hardyer, but it grows a bit :naughty:

yeh i want clown loaches quite badly... nice shoaling fish with funny personaility. my tank will have; 6 clowns, 1 black ghost knife, about 4-6 silver dollars, might get 2-4 apollo sharks 1 motoro ray and a flagtail characin. what do u guys think? btw is fishkeeping popular in portugal?
