stingray tankmates

Your sotck list you have chosen are very quick and agressive eaters. I have 3 RedHooks, 5 Clown Loaches and an apollo shark (used to have more my, dats took care of them). These guys eat everything I throw in the tank FAST. They get to it quicker than my dats.

You'll probably need to over-feed your tank a bit to give your ray a chance.

plec could suck the slime coat
loaches are cool but the need to be uneatable.
they have spines aswell and can rip a ray a new one if eaten.

yeh i want clown loaches quite badly... nice shoaling fish with funny personaility. my tank will have; 6 clowns, 1 black ghost knife, about 4-6 silver dollars, might get 2-4 apollo sharks 1 motoro ray and a flagtail characin. what do u guys think? btw is fishkeeping popular in portugal?

IMO you should get the tank cycled (possibly using the silver dollars) and then introduce a ray. If your water is well prepared and you have done your research then it wont make a difference what ray species you buy. I would get the retic and get a male (as they tend to grow more slowly/stay smaller) if you want to be able to keep it there for any length of time as a motoro will get too big very fast. Also get one over about 5-6" as below that they are very delicate.

When that ray has been doing well for a few months then start to consider what else might go in the tank. You will have a better idea what is suitable at this point.

I wouldnt suggest a tank under 200 gallons for one motoro, without any tankmates. They can get up to 36".pleco will probably suck on your rays disk and irritate ur rays skin badly. Your stock list looks good without the motoro.
