why non silica based?

The reason for buying a non silica based sand is so that u dont have the same problem u have now.Silica based sand is just like having small pieces of glass on the bottom of your tank,silica based is very abrasive.I would suggest buying Estes marine sand it is very cheap about $3.94 for a 5lb bag and $9.00 for a 10lb bag.U only want about a 1/2 inch worth in the bottom of your tank no more than a 1inch max.It also comes in alot of different colors
