i just installed a 40w aqua-ultraviolet on my 600g and a 15w aquaultraviolet on my 450..did i undersize them? the 40w has a 500gph powerhead and 15w has a 150gph powerhead..i understand water has to have contact time or the uv is useless..

I put a 36w one on my 280 gallon and from what I've read this is what I'd need to kill bacteria and algae. For a 600 gallon your probably sized right for algae and not bacteria. Sorry that wasn't your question and you allrady knew that. I would go with the 2 80's in case of one failing. I allways like to go smaller and double up if possible.
well google has been my links.. so i cant offer you guys a hell of alot of input as im still trying to get everything myself... skynoch as for a reactor you could prob make one out of pvc i would contact chompers or dr joe they seem to be good with those things ill be doing the same myself to fill in some gaps...
