So I'm having a stingray coming into my tank in 2 days. In the tank there is an arowana and 4 bristlenose plecos that keep the tank shining from algae.

Is anyone keeping bristlenose with stingrays or they will just end up eaten and I have to remove them?

In the wild, freshwater stingrays usually (not always) live near at least some form of pleco. Bristlenose plecostomus get... 6-8" (if I even got it right...), while most stingrays get 2' in diameter. Since the armor of the plecos will protect them, they'll be alright for the time being, but the stingray might eventually get a bit snippy with them. I think the King of DIY has stingrays with a pleco in the same tank. My recommendation is to give the plecostmus some caves so that they can dart out of the way of a stingray. What type of stingray, by the way?

I'm getting a motoro, it's 28 cm wide. Yeah King of DIY has an L014 pleco but its size is not compared with bristlenose plecos (mine are 4 inch approx.)

Remember an stingray is an predator. Every fish that can be tasted will be tasted even if they cant eat it. Ive had an 35cm ray pin down an 40cm datnioid in my tank. Same goes with the gars in the tank thats close to 50cm.

True, which is why I advised caution. If the size differences are that large, perhaps it'd be safer to get the bristlenoses out to prevent the stingray taking a nibble out of some vital organs.

Ok thank you all for your help. I've just removed the one pair, so 2 left. I have to take my chances here, at least until I come up with a solution with algae. The tank is full of driftwood so I think I have a good chance that the plecos survive. If I notice anyone missing I will remove the other guy too.
Maybe I should go with a L014 (like king of DIY :naughty:) however it will take plenty of time to grow up and be ready to go in the tank.

I think you should remove the driftwood as the stingray is quite large and will need its space to roam around. As for an pleco i would go with an simple gibbiceps. The grow large and can stand its ground with rays.

L14 with rays is a hit or miss some have success with that combo others fail as the pleco can have a nasty habit of sucking the slimecoat of the ray and can do some nasty damage.

I think common pleco is more susceptible to sucking slime coat, although I have no experience of that only by reading in forums.
I will do my research and decide about what pleco is more compatible, now I know nothing.

Abou the driftwood I have put it in a way that it doesnt touch the ground a lot, so there is room for the ray in the bottom.

Do you have any experience with rays and bristlenose?

Ive never had an common pleco or gibbiceps suck slimecoat on any of my rays.

No experience at all with rays and ancistrus sp. As stated before they dont grow that large at all and rays can easily pick one off.

The thing is with l14 is that its an carnivorous pleco so the can do some nasty damage with their teeth on an ray.
