So set me right here. I here that flagtails, if kept with stingrays will pick the the rays disk and harm/kill it. Is this true or not? 5 months ago I bought a 3" flagtail when I had my rays. I the rays were about 8" and all got along fine for 1 month until I sold the rays. Now the flagtail is 7+" and I want to get some 12"+ size stingrays. Do you think he will harm them now that he is bigger. I think
he is full grown b/c he is the small species and not the large one. I'm thinking he won't bother the rays b/c he didn't when he was smaller.
Any thoughts on this???????

If it doesn't work out I can move him back into his current tank.

lol don't do it. i had three flagtails about 14cm, and they sucked a bunch of skin off of one of my rays over night. i put up a thread a few days ago with a picture of the damage done in one night

its a 50/50 shot just like plecos. are u rely willing to take the risk???

I had prochilodus with rays and I was fine (so were the rays). That was 5 or 10 years ago. However, individual mileage will always vary. What answer do you want? It won't work or it will... that's really out of your control or mine.

There's no way to know what will happen, varies from Flagtail to Flagtail. The problem is that they may go for months or years without being a problem, and then you wake up one morning and you have a dead ray.

They usually become "addicted" once it starts, and nothing will stop that particular Flagtail from bothering that species again. Stress, bites and slimecoat loss will do in much bigger and tougher fish.

I've heard of this happening with both gars and rays. The flagtail can do A LOT of damage in one night, even if you've never noticed a problem before.

I wouldn't risk it.

i never new that about flagtails,,,i seen alot of them in sting ray tanks and i went out and bought a group of 8 for my 600.Now i ,m rethinking having them in the tank.
but they clean a tank so well..i have them in 75 gallon baby ray tank and they don't bug the babies...hmmm let me know how it works out with your flagtail
