Stingrays and Giraffe catfish. Any experiences?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Giraffe cat should work good. Those things eat a ton and poo a ton, so keep in mind the added bio load. I use a niger cat for my tank and now he's HUGE! He's about to head to the local public aquarium.

Ahhh, and poo a ton. Not good lol dammit.... Id liver a niger cat but the long term size it nutso

They get huge!!! Like 24 inches, and girthy. Thats the only reason I havent bought one. I have seen people house them together, If i remember correctly rapps has one with his ra in his personal tank.

I have the same problem with mine, I use 2 bigger striped Raphael Cats they are about 6 inches, rarely see them as they hide but they clean up at night, also picked up a jumper cat.

I gave awaya anything I cannot see, which included a stipped raphael and a smaller spotted.
Don't you hate when u sell something only to need it down the road....

Grow those snails (forget what really called) that some call an ice cream cone. I imagine the ray will eat them, so have an extra tank going so you have a continual stock. They burrow during the day and keep substrate moving and eat everything except hair algae.

When I moved my tanks to a new location I saw TONS of snails in my eheim 2250 intake tube. I see maybe two or three in the tank everyonce ina while. Friggin things are like roaches.... not in the mood to fail at even trying to remove then. Not sure they will ever make it out of the filter either :-(

Bichir. I read somewher on here that G. Cats can get very aggressive.

This is my main concern. Don't want to buy it to have to sell it. I guess it might be dependent on the individual cat? Will wait for more responses.

So far looks like ill be buying another raphael. Always stayed fat tho I never saw it eat. Guess it was serving a purpose, just hate owning something I can't really see

Got a 17" giraffe in whit my pearls.
Bottum is always clean.
Onlything it eats more than the pearls

btw a great fish to have ,no agression at all.

Any luck breeding ur pearls. I was considering buying a pair but the money isn't available tho the pair is :-(..... also I hear giraffe nose cats lose their pattern when they get bigger as I see in ur pic (I think) is that always the case?

I just traded my large endli and ornate with Strollo22 here. Still have a weeksi, pretty active at night. Think I might stay away from cats and was offered two more weeksi for two indo dats I'm tryna sell. They grow super slow and I've noticed since the big polys left that the weeksi has fattened up (and I never see it eat).

Think ima go with a trio of weeksi to clean up at night. Thanks
