Stingrays banned in Ny

Call your local Fish and Wildlife and ask them. You'll probably get a better answer than you would get from a store.

i think there was a recent CITES meeting in bangkok. i havnt yet read much about the meeting but maybe there were some updates regarding rays.

i did read that one member at the meeting opposed a ban regarding manta rays as the member was concerned it would affect the aquarium trade and people would not be able to keep manta rays in aquariums in their homes :D
 
I believe that the reasoning is the pure fact of the difficulty and knowledge needed to keep a ray as a pet and due to the lack of knowledge from LFS employees its just better they make them illegal let's face it think about all the rays that won't be placed in the hands of people who have not a clue as to care for a ray and keep it alive for many years to come

^^ I doubt that to be the reason. If so then they should just ban all animals as pets because there are a slew of humans who can't, won't and don't care for their more characteristic pets such as dogs and cats. Look at all the dogs and cats that are dumped and left to stray and parish from starvation or hit by cars.
 
This is New York we are talking about. The politicains are pissed the ban on large sodas got stopped by a judge. They figure they can get away wih banning stingrays with little resistance. Other items on the NY want to ban list popcorn in movie theaters, milk in drinks (milk shakes and coffee), baby formula and cigarettes.

Dogs and cats are a lot easier to care for then stingrays plus the demand for stingrays is wayy smaller than any dog or cat so its a lot easier to just make them illegal in nyc as we all know 9 out of 10 people who walk into the LFS in NYC say wow look a stingray and what happens the store sells it providing little if any info and at that point the ray has a real slim chance or surviving...they made piranhas illegal in nyc but legal outside the the city which Idk the exact reason but you can make your own your guess is as good as mine

This is wrong... They can not even import them through the airlines. All rays in this area now need to coe through NJ airlines
 
If I were to post what I thought of Bloomberg and his NY cronies I would be banned. But my BIG GULP is ooooh so sweet !
