Rays tend to bury themselves unless feeding.. bichirs r all over the place and have better personalities imo.. id go with bichirs unless u want an inactive tank..

Rays.... Not a huge fan of bichirs, but, I've only owned one and he jumped out. And where is this they are a lot cheaper? I went to an LFS about a month ago and they had a 4" Ornate and wanted like $85. My ray was $100... And that same LFS had retics for $60
Let me clear some false information, Rays do not hide in the sand all the time. Overall they never hide in the sand, Really!! no joke, Maybe I am just lucky but out of 9 rays I have owned all stay top side all the time. Have 8 currently. They do need the right conditions and tank setup to make it best for them of course. Just like any fish though. If you have a 240 or larger rays are the best wet pet I have ever kept so far. Once again let me say rays do not hide in the sand all the time. I have lots of living proof right behind me.
