Stingrays to be Slaughtered for Shoes

It's fake.

Like I said in the last thread, Elasmobranches take too long to reach sexual maturity and have too low of a reproductive rate to make large-scale breeding for any kind of wide industry (aquarium trade is pretty narrow) sustainable in ANY way.

I don't get why if a fish/animal whatever is farmed for the use of clothing/food and isn't effecting wild population why a stingray is any different from a lamb or cow or any other animal we eat/use for clothing.

but i agree its fake the amount of time to set this thing up would out weigh any profit

You'd think that if they really could do that, they'd monopolize on the pet trade, not only shoes....

However, I hadn't heard yet that this is fake. Kind of comforting to know. Think of the genetic data that would need to be lost in order to make the prints. It would be like creating a child with Muscular Distrophy so the skin could be blue. What kind of life is that for a ray, even if the conditions are outstanding?

Not necessarily. It all depends on where and how pigment is encoded in ray genetics. If you could produce a perfectly healthy animal with exotic color how would it be any different than selective breeding. Selective breeding produces cull too, few more eye opening than Koi.
