stock advice for car dealership

Im curious to how an aquarium will make people come back to buy more cars? The way I see it is if people want repeat business from me then sell your cars cheaper and with better customer service. As to fish to stock, I would go with something that suits the kinda of cars you sell, powerful fish for powerful cars, or community fish for crappy runabout ecofriendly cars etc.

A lot of people are drawn to aquariums especially in business settings it promotes the air of success and wealth. I know a lot of big corporations will have fish tank displays in their offices especially in asia.
so yeah it would really make the dealership have the air of success. after all if they have the time and effort to set up and maintain an aquarium people will assume that they are obviously doing well with the company. You don't walk into a really crappy run down local pawn store and see a 50gallon african cichlid set up.

If I could do anything I would have the absolutely huge 5000+ gallon tank that Kage has in the Yakuza video game series. he spies on the whole of tokyo and has a **** tonne of asian arro's swimming around in the tank behind him, you know that guy means business. thats what fish tanks do! make you look like you mean business

Fill it full of different colour fantail guppies with some nice live plants and maybe a small branchy piece of driftwood.

I have to disagree, I get that it screams success. But this is if its done right, done wrong and too small it just seems cheap and pathetic. Also if you walk into a car dealership and they have a 5000g tank with expensive fish arent you gonna wonder how they paid for it, most likely by charging the customer more. Besides he is after repeat business, I wouldnt go back to a place jsut cause they had "that kick arse tank". You want repeat business give superior service and a good product.

that's a poor business plan, I wish you and your boss the best of luck with it. I still think if your doing it to stock the tanks with something to reflect the vehicles you're selling so at least they are useful. for example, fish x is stream line and efficient much like the new x car, have you driven said car.

It will offer the kids a distraction while parents check out the cars. From experience, having bored kids tugging on your pant leg will shorten your time in the dealership. Less time = less opportunity to make a sale.

Stock it with active, colourful fish that will keep the kids attention. Mbunas would be a good choice.

Nova you don't sound like you have ever been in the sales field, much less automotive. The numbers and stats don't lie, and your own preferences are not the norm (and that's if you practice what you preach..)

In the auto sales business, there is a saying which has always been true, "customers will drive 100 miles further and buy the car from a salesman they didn't like to save $100.." Maybe not something you want to think is true, but it is. Anything you can get to be "THE" dealership that sticks in your customers minds and makes people think about you is worth it's weight in gold. Customers in dealerships are always waiting on paperwork, or a bank decision, or auto repair etc... and something fun to look at and calm them down and make their visit more pleasant is a GOOD idea. I hope the OP does it.

While i agree a crappy tank or really small tank in comparison where the tank is places might backfire...

But a well thought out tank definitely helps you remember a store...

I still remember a gorgeous iwagami aquascaped tank in a miele appliance store, was probably 10 - 12ft long, 1 or 1.5ft deep, and about 2 ft tall... But based against a store thats all black with stainless steel items it was an exceptionally nice touch...

There are also a few restaurants that have feature walls that are saltwater tanks which looks pretty sweet...

But i definitely like the planted tank idea with even lots of different small colorful community fish...
