orange spot sunfish

i personaly would go convicts, a grammodes or a sagitea

i would make it look like a lake! with sand and either like hornwort, and java fern... or you can buy fake replicas.

them my stock list would look like this
1x small type of pike
1x bluegill
1x small mouth bass
and then get like 5x cory catfish to clean up all the waste the lake fish will make

these types of setups look truly awesome i have to of these and they look AWESOME
....i have a 6ft, 100gal tank that is setup like a lake and my stock list looks like this
5x bluegills
1x lake perch
1x red river fish
2 snails (just because)
1x map turtle
1 southern painted turtle
and soon to come 1x musk turtle!

BTW= i hope you cosider this setup they look very natural and these fish are not exactly nice. if you want them to be mean like you said, raise the temputure up to 80 degrees. when you raise the temp it makes their metabolism much faster wich makes them.......hungry + active = more agression.

i was thinking more of a natural tank look for my 55, the sunfish look really nice and you can get a group of them for about 30 dollars. good luck! i bought a 50 lb bag of sand from home depot and that turned out great for me.

A small mouth bass with cory cats might be a bad idea (in fact a small mouth bass in a 55 gallon is a bad idea). What kind of pike did you mean as well I cant see the African pikes not eating the cory's or outgrowing the 55 either.....

That actually sounds pretty bad ass, I just don't know though if it would have as much color, or oddities as I'm looking for. I either want to go big and strange looking, big and scary looking, or African biotope with a possible eel. But the lake thing has definitely given me something to toss around. A few of the other suggestions are good too I have a lot to plan here.

thanks for thinking about that idea....if you dont want to do that, its OK... but if you do it then you might need to upgrade in like 3 years to a 75gal or even a 100 gallon... if u upgrade to a 100 then you could add a couple more fish..

well.. theres my 2 cents on the topic.. do what you want, dont let e bother you.
BTW= good luck with the tank

Well if you want a sunfish with a little bit of color and is mean go with a green sunfish, they dont get much more mean and agressive then that, jsut my .02 :)

how about a pair of electric blue jack dempseys with a planted aquascape, with a shoal of neon tetras. I always wanted to do that but the time and money that would go into it....
