Hi, just looking for some tips, answers or ideas. I am possibly getting a new tank in the near future, either a standard 6ft x 2ft x 2ft or possibly 6ft x 3ft(deep) x 2ft(tall) and I had a few ideas for the stock but wasn't sure. My most likely atm is a festae pair on their own but I was open to anything that might be a cooler pair or maybe just one big male of some species to fill the tank themself. So, what I would like to know is if I were to get the festae pair in either tank is that going to be enough space. Also I would like to know like i said before if there are any other species that could fill that solo or in a pair like jags or red devils idk i just wanted some ideas and tips before going into it. Ive already got a 200gal set up running with a few big american cichlids in it atm so i could possibly move them into the new 6ft x 3ft x2ft if i went that way size wise to give them more room then work with the existing 200g for the new fish,or I could just leave them I don't mind. Ive just got a lot of ideas up in the air and some helpful tips or ideas would be a good help from people who have been in the hobby a lot longer.
Also if anyone knows of a cheap custom tank builder in Queensland Australia because 6ft x 3ft x 2ft tanks are hard to come by and I don't really want to be spending HEAPS.

I'm not 100% sure. I've never owned either, but we do have peacock bass wild here(Florida) and some get pretty big, even up to 12 pounds and 2 feet long. As for a dovii, i have never gotten the opportunity to own one. My neighbor has one in a 180 gallon tank by itself, and he's always splashing water out even with the cover on. You could probably find something better than my two ideas. But I like to keep "pretty" fish in my tanks, and my "ugly" fish go to my pond. My wife is the final rater on what is pretty and ugly.

For anything bigger than 1.00 a gallon- usually 75 and up. If you have the time it's worth it to build your own tank- You can go MUCH bigger for a fraction of the price. If you want something customized do it yourself, spend more than you want to, or be disappointed.

I tried the whole build it myself thing and it sprung a leak over night and I didn't want that happening again haha

How about an umbee pair...they are suave looking , personable....though we dont get umbees here , if i could lay my hands on the ..gorillus it would be.
Next thing that you can try is the Festae...awesome colors....
Dovii's are my favourite too , i have a pair and they just hate me...you can go for it

So would a single male Dovii be okay in a 6ft x 2ft x 2ft by itself seeing as a few people have done it and that sort of tank is way easier to come by then the 3ft deep base. Dovii would be my number 1 choice.

Okay awesome well if there are any other ideas lay them down because i just want something pretty big and really aggressive with personality like a midas/red devil or something?
