stock list of a 40 gal breeder

No not really it's just that CA cichlids prey on Livebearers in the wild. But cichlids have been captive raised for so long that they would rather eat pellets. I don't for see problems with the Mixteco's. Yes you are over stocked and I think that 4 adult Mixteco's and 6 Swordtails would be reasonable. I have noticed though that some swordtails are twice the aggression than Thorichthys species. Get the rainbows and the EBJD out and youll be good. Swordtails get fairly large as well around 3 in some even 4 in. Or you can keep two rainbows and 6 ST's. Rainbows are a arger bodied fish than Mixteco's and usually grow larger.

Oh and CB you are some what of an idiot because you never listen to my advice. If you weren't an idiot you wouldn't have all those fish in the 29. I am afraid to put more than 2-4 inch fish in a 29. As I have a 4" Bleekeri growing out and a 1" female con and I think thats fully stocked lol.

I believe your stocking is fine, you can best tell by measuring your water parameters. I would however recommend adding another filter, always a good idea in the case that one of the filters fail.

As for the livebearers, if you like them then get them. You can get a few cheaper platies or swordtails and find out how well they will work with your cichlids. You may find the mix works or possibly the will be eaten. It's your tank and the experimental mixes are fun, interesting and a definite learning experiences.

ok if im an idiot then why havent any of my livebearers died??? and u can use tiger barbs as dithers to

I wasn't saying you didn't know what you were doing but just that your tank is very overstocked and you never listen but whatever back to the subject. I was just looking at someones tank the other day it was a 75 gallon with 6 beunos Aires tetras, 6 swordtails 2 rainbow cichlids and a Nic. One of the most beautiful tanks I have ever seen so I think they look GREAT together.

Less off topic please.

Personally I would use any of the higher bodied Tetra so that they definitely don't disappear. Personally I like Serpae Tetra and Bleeding Heart Tetra, but any of them will work, especially Buenos Aries Tetra which grow quite large, however they apparently destroy plants.

Columbian Blue Flame Tetra is another option.

I keep counterfiet(silver dollar) tetras in all my tanks they dont get as big as silver dollars but look just like them. The big fish dont bother with them due to there speed and high body.
