Most of you guys won't find this right up your alley, but I know a few will. Finally got around to selling off my stunning old Blue Acara (I'm hunting down a new avatar now), moved my 2 Keyhole Cichlids to a planted tank I'm developing, and picked up 3 Geophagus araguari, most of you will recognize these as Orange Head Tapajos, there is a difference, personally I don't know what it is - perhaps the red dorsal lining.
These guys are only juveniles, I believe I've got 2 Males and 1 Female but I won't know for sure until they develop further. It's actually scary how alike these guys look to my Altifrons 'Rio Tocantins' at this size. So, now my tanks exactly how I want it, a relatively peaceful community of South American Heroines and Eartheaters.
Final stocking is in my signature,
2x Heros efasciatus "Green Severum"
1x Hypselecara temporalis "Chocolate Cichlid"
1x Geophagus altifrons 'Rio Tocantins'
2x Acarichthys heckelii
3x Geophagus araguari "Orange Heads"
2x Ancistrus sp. "Bristlenose Pleco"
Obligatory photos, tank needs a bit of a clean though.
Full tank, had to fully replace all of my driftwood after catching the fish, which ended up being a puzzle piece.
The three of them, still not fully settled, as you can see they're not really showing their orange heads yet, just slight hints of it.
Left and Right are Males I believe.
Males, these were the two most sub-dominant, wasn't allowed to take the breeders single dominant male from the batch as he was keeping it for himself, was a stunning fish.
Female
As you can see they're still pretty stressed after the move which took a couple of hours yesterday. They've eaten scraps that have sunk down to them and have sifted a little sand but nothing major yet, my little Altifrons trying to bully them doesn't really help the situation either but I'm sure they'll be good as gold in a couple of days.
Cheers guys.
