Stock tank pond questions

My question mainly surrounds temperature fluctuations. I know that the black Rubbermaid tanks are good at holding heat at night, but it's the day heat that I am worried about. Here in the Deep South summer temperatures often reach the upper 90s and sometimes can be as high as 105. I'm a bit worried that if I do move my goldfish outside that they'll cook in a black stock tank. Is this a legitimate concern?

The winters here aren't too bad so I could probably keep them outside year round. 30-50 is the usual range of nighttime winter temperatures, though upper or even mid 20s aren't unheard of, just not common.

Adding floating plants will greatly reduce temperature fluctuations.

But won't the sun beating down on the black plastic sides raise the temperature? That's my concern

Plant a tree over it,such as a hybrid willow.

Bury your rubbermaid stock tank in the ground, and you will be fine. Otherwise if your stock tank is not in the shade, it will overheat. Rubbermaid used to make them in a gray color. The gray ones stay a bit cooler,

I agree with Joe, I had wild temp fluctuations even in the north. When I added water hyacinth it helped, but to really effect the heat, the entire surface needed to be covered, and then of course, the fish became invisible.
Burying the tank helped much more in stabilizing temp.

I also found surrounding the tank with shade creating plants helped, as did water flow.
