The ones pictured above will not warp if left above grade and filled. I would reason the he buried it for aesthetic reasons.

Great thanks. I can't find them around here only steel type and local place wont order even if pre paid the plastic type .

Might look at ordering as even the one's from local horse farms are steel types .
