Stocking 125

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Even a 125 is gonna be pushing it imo with a common pleco. it's a 2' + poop factory... w/ 2 Oscars... which are poop factorys.. w/ a pictus.. which is a catfish.. and a poop... you get the idea. and a word to the wary. Your Oscars may get along just fine, or may hit maturity and rip eachother to shreds until you have 1 fish left. So be prepared to seperate if need be, but of course you should hope for the best. And now that I've gone threw some of the negatives. I'de take the common pleco out, and if you really want a pleco there are some other choices that would stay abit smaller, and be alot less bioload. and my experience with common plecos is the bigger they get the nastier they get, they can and will kill other fish in the tank. I'de add a Tire Track eel, and check out the catfish boards for some other possible ideas unless your in love with pictus'.

i may get rid of the plec and get a smaller species if it is a common, i didnt know there were any much smaller kinds, mine looks like a brown leopard lol

i think the oscars will be fine they dont fight at all and get along very well now but wen they hit maturity u never know.

i dont exactly care for the picus, i barely ever see it lol

so can any post a stock list with the oscars and some kind of smaller pleco, one that i can find easily and are near the same size cuz i just love the sucker fish

There are lots and lots of smaller prettier plecos to choose from. If you have some green to spend check out an L-91 or three beacon pleco that would be perfect for your tank. It will max out around 10 inches. Check out some geophagus Altrifons. Google that and see who sweet those fellows are.

you could add a small school of silver dollars

You could get a bristle nose plec-never seen one over 8". Just create a hiding spot so he can hide from the oscars most of the day if needed.

i stopped by my LFS so within the next week or two the tank will be set up and i will start choosing the stock
