Stocking a 120g

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You could create a West African biotope planted with anubias on wood and African water fern you could have
X12 Congo tetras
X3 African butterfly fish
X2 thomasi dwarf cichlids
X2 red kribensis cichlids
X2 blockhead cichlids
X4 upside down catfish
first time posting but I've been reading this site for a while now.

I'm feeling lost on my stocking options. I've had several lists that don't work out for one reason or another So I'm trying to narrow down what I really want and then just let other stuff fall into place after.

Considered a lake Victoria biotope
A bunch of nanos and a community tank with rams gourami tetras and Corys.

What I think I really want are Congo tetras and eba.

Would y'all mind suggesting a stock for a 120g long?

Hi. Thank you for such specific suggestions :) I have a lot of wood so that wouldn't be tough but I just (before the accident) went on a hike for these rocks I've been cleaning up. 0826171053-1.jpg 0826171053a-1.jpg 0826171053a-2.jpg 0826171053c-1.jpg 0826171056-1.jpg
White and purple quartz. Do you think they would work too? Aside from the upside cats I think those fish are very cool. The cats a little bit freak me out lol.

Yes you have some good rocks there could pull off an central American cichlid tank easily with them rocks

Victorians can be nice, some fairly colorful, but be prepared to manage them similar to a Malawi tank, they tend to be aggressive. Wouldn't put an EBA with them, or with most Africans, though there are some exceptions.

5 ft long 120 gives you a lot of options. If you're thinking Tanganyikan, check out Cyprichromis, very colorful, Paracyphrichromis, which are interesting, Altolamprologus, different shape, interesting behavior, some altolamps being more colorful than others.

If you're thinking SA, some medium growing geos and one of the less common wild type sev species (in other words something different than gold, or common green severums) would make a nice combination, if you haven't done them before.

Just a few of the possibilities. Lots of possibilities for that size tank, depending on taste and budget.

Thank you. You've given me a lot to think about. I'll do some more research and keep posted or ask more questions :)
Really appreciate the help!
