I have six bichirs in with a jag, a flowerhorn, a buttikoferi, and a midas. The cichlids don't bother the bichirs...but my experience may be unique! And as others are warning you, if you are shopping for baby cichlids - DO NOT underestimate what a bichir can fit in it's mouth.
