The Land where Fish Rule!
Hey guys, I am putting together a stock list for my 220 that I am setting up and wanted your guys advice. The dimensions are standard 72L x 24W x 30H (inches)

1x silver arowana
3/4 x Peacock Bass
1x jurenese or marbled pim (Leiarius marmoratus) or similair catfish
possibly a Midas but very unlikely

What do you guys think, any suggestions? I will probably go with 3 peacock bass beacuase all these are very moster fish, unless someone says something different. I know these fish are very demanding and can provide for their needs. I have experience with monster fish but not these in specific ones ( except the midas which I already have). Any one have any other fish that would go with these types of fish? One other question for those of you with canopies. Do you have to have glass lids when you have a canopy and is your canopy open topped or closed top?

i have the lids on with my canopies. its just not worth the risk without them. especially with the Aro. they have a tendencies to jump. plus with my Pbass. feeding time can be a bit crazy, and the lids help :)

eventually youll need a bigger tank for all those guys

I do really like bichirs and might do something with them a little later, they aren't as high a priority. As for datnoids, I think there nice fish, but they are quite pricey and I dont have a burning desire to have them. I also didn't think dats were ok with p bass. I think I will put some egg crate covers under the canopy for the jumping and stuff beacuse full glass ones are considerably more expensive. Thanks for all the suggestions!

Sounds like you're well on your way to making the same mistake I made when I first stocked my 220, unless you plan on making a considerable upgrade later on. If that's going to be the final tank, I would substitute the pbass for eartheaters, get a Leiarius pictus instead of L. marmoratus, and get a GT or something instead of the midas.

Umm what do you think of 3 vs 4 Peacock bass and the possibility of a midas? I like the suggestions for some of the smaller fish but those will go in probably later. Anyone have a good segguestion for a small-ish dither type fish to kind of you know fill up the space in the tank movement wise? I know that I will have to upgrade in the future too but hopefully it will be this for a few years.:) I am looking to have this setup for around 4 years then I will sell some of the stock off and keep what I can. The marble cat I can see wont work due to size already.
