THREE neons? :nono: they need to be in groups of 6+ same with the cardinals =]]

Wrong! You can have 3 neons together and they will do fine. I've seen it in many many cases incuding my 2 gal tank I have sitting at work.

I would do a few shrimp, or a few neons/cardinals, even a few fancy guppies would be cool.

you can try to make it into a little pond biotope. Just go to a local pond and take some mud and plants. There are many tiny creatures in that mud. You can also get a couple of minnows in there.

You can definitely add more than 3 neons... I would think 6 would be fine. Obviously depends on filtration and water changes but neons don't really produce much waste. Add some java fern to help with the filtration and minimize nitrates and algae growth. The red and blue from the neons looks great with the green accents.

I agree. It would make a great shrimp tank. Get a piece of driftwood, some java moss, crypts, anubias, and throw in a few cherry shrimp. You could also add some dwarf rasboras like galaxies if you can find them. They only get around 3/4"

hmm this is more fun than i thought a 3 gallon would be... i've got a nice piece of driftwood for it, probably will get some fern and java moss. a planted 3 gallon!!:headbang2
