stocking a 55 gallon

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I had a 55 setup for a long ime before I upgraded to one of my current larger tanks. I had everything in that tank, from a nicely scaped planted tank, to a soft coral reef. I had it for about 12 years. In that time the most fun I had with that tank, and when I truely enjoyed it the most was when I had 7 ameca splendins, a breeding pair of meeki, and a pair of bristle nose plecs. It was full of activity, everything breeds easily. And none of the fish "competed" for space. It was very enjoyable. Just thought I would share. Good luck.

Get a big GT!

But if you want something 'big' then you could get a single firemouth, a single black convict, or possibly even a single gold severum which each get to be around 6" max size

Give me a break. A single black convict in a 55 gallon tank? You guys are insane with your suggestions sometimes. I've never seen a 6" convict and even if it did get 6" you're talking about one 6" fish in a 48"x12" footprint?
