I've got an established 55g with 2 Bolivian Rams(m&F) 10 neon tetras, 5 red tetras, 4 black neon tetras, a snail, 1 albino chinese algea eater, and a green bristle nose pleco.....I was wondering if it would be O.K. to add either an EBJD or female convict to the tank.....If this wouldn't be a Good idea Suggestions are welcome

only if you want your neons to be snacks...
how big are your rams?

EBJD might be ok if he can't eat the other fish...

There's a high chance of saying bye bye to your rams and tetras if you put a convict in there. Just my op though :)

The EBJD will get much larger then the rams, and if it acts anything like all of the normal jack dempseys i have owned then it would love to dominate the whole entire tank and bully the small rams, and make chow time of the tetra's.. convicts dont get as big, but can be very mean, i think you just gotta give it a try!

convicts are ruthless..and a ebjd will just eat them

doubt it... I've actually SEEN that the other way around.
depending on where there from, how there raised, etc...

My male Ram is the bigest at about 2 inches, I know that if I get the EBJD that the tetras are more than likely gonna end up as BAIT, I was hoping I could introduce a female convict between .5-1.5 inches...in my experience it seems that females growth rate is way slower than their male conterparts...is this true?

yeah, i just can't seem to keep them alive long enough:irked:....I've kept mostl others cichlids for years from juvie to adulthood, but I've tried EBJD on three other occasions and can't get them past the 2 inch mark:screwy: do you have any idea what it may be.....I had two in a community tank with gourami and platyies, they lived for about 4 months, and my last attempt was even shorter than that in a tank alone!
