Stocking a 55g...?

yeah, i just can't seem to keep them alive long enough....I've kept mostl others cichlids for years from juvie to adulthood, but I've tried EBJD on three other occasions and can't get them past the 2 inch mark do you have any idea what it may be.....I had two in a community tank with gourami and platyies, they lived for about 4 months, and my last attempt was even shorter than that in a tank alone!

Get a 4" one they are not as week as 1-2" ones..

My male Ram is the bigest at about 2 inches, I know that if I get the EBJD that the tetras are more than likely gonna end up as BAIT, I was hoping I could introduce a female convict between .5-1.5 inches...in my experience it seems that females growth rate is way slower than their male conterparts...is this true?

The female convict are very mean it will out grown the EBJD and then it might hurt it...
