The title says it all. In a couple weeks one of my indoor ponds will be up and running and I'm trying to decide on a few fish for it. The pond will be essentially a holding tank for big fish. I will have 2 tanks set aside that I will pull pairs as desired to breed them. So I will pretty much always have 2 pairs in rotation from the pond to the tanks for breeding them back to the pond. The pond is 11'X4' and is 2.5' deep.

Right now the only thing going in the pond is

Herichthys Carpintis "Escondido" pair
Xilaoensis (have a bunch of fry that I traded for that I will probably keep 3-4 of)
A couple of different cryptoheros that will be dithers

What else would you add and why. Keep in mind that these will all be in pairs with maybe an extra female or 2 for breeding purposes.

I have been looking at these guys as possibilities.
exCichlasoma Istanum
Vieja Argentea
Parachromis La Ceiba Yellow head
Paratheraps breidohri
Herichthys Yellow labridens
Herichthys Pantepec

Any other suggestions?

I will have fry for most of them. I will let you know. You are welcome to get some grow outs form my pond. You need a pair of Chancho's

Awesome Reagan!!!!! Let me know if you want to go in on any orders.

I will be in contact as this gets up and going. I hope you know my wife blames you for this:D.

She is however getting her house back so she is happy about that.

Building my own room in the garage. Just using wood posts to build a frame and a liner inside it. Using a pressurised pond filter for filtration with a 2400gph pump. I will have SA pond on the opposite side of the room soon as well. Want to get one going first and work out any kinks before I build the other one. All of my tanks but one will be going in the room as well.

How about some Rio San Pedro "White Beani", those would look so nice in that pond?? :naughty:

Definitely Istlanun...I"d probably do V. argentea and P. La Ceiba also.

Got any preliminary stocking plans for the SA pond?

I pretty much already have most of what I want for the SA pond.

5 hoplarchus psittacus
6 Heros Notatus
2 Geophagus altifrom "manuas"
5 Geophagus Altifrons "tocantins"
3 Hecklii
1 heros rotkeil
1 heros super red
1 black aro

Need to find a few more of each eartheater and a mate for my super red and rotkeil. Might also eventually get a pair of heros atabapo down the road. Also will be looking for a wild temporalis pair.
