i really had my heart set on an arowana but after about 5 days of browsing the site ive decided to go community. right now i have a dinky little 30 gal that i plan to upgrade into a 150 plus tank. what babies do u reccomend? how about a florida gar and an ornate bichir to start. looking for some real oddballs. thanks :headbang2

iF you want an arowana don't stop!!! Make it happen! Just because someone suggests something doesn't mean it's not possible :) Eventually you might wanna buy a bigger tank than a 150.. But most all of us started out smaller than we needed..My Tank is too small for the fish i have but it wont be when they grow into it :) And if i cannot afford bigger, my buddy has a geo thermal pond that is waiting for them :)

thanks for the input, i want a jardini but most people on this forum have had bad experience with mixing a jardini with other fish. i think a bunch of oddballs would be alot cooler anyways. i saw ur florida gar in the video lounge, it is pretty cool how much did u pick it up for?

I have a 14" jardini with a 10" baramundi, 8" chinese perch, and a 10" indo dat, with a 8" goldy pleco, and they are just swimming around in a 100gal ...don't seem to mind actually a nice setup :)

wow, so it can be done! u're the second person that ive heard on this post have it work for them. were they introduced when they were all babies?

Yup, I have a Jar and a Dat. started them in a 33g. They did fine for 4months then upgraded to a 135g.

ooooooooo :grinno: jardini sounds really tempting. this is the planned community tank. all will be purchased and introduced to each other as babies. ornate bichir, african pike, jardini arowana (maybe im not 100% sure). somebody please reccommend some fish that could hold its own in a tank wit these fish! remember final upgraded tank will be a 150-200.

just got an email from wes from rarefish and he said he has some wild ornate bichirs for 28 bucks and can get 4-5 inch african pikes for 25. THEY WILL BE BOUGHT :headbang2

going to stick em in here. im probably gonna take out all the rocks and use just sand with a couple of river rocks to make it look a lil nicer.
i dont think im gonna get the jardini. can anyone recommend a moderately sized predatory fish besides the jardini that could be added to the community? and a nice catfish too. so thats 3 monsterfish and a catfish. :woot: :woot: :woot:
