I just bought a new 100 gallon, that I was thinking of using as a sort of grow out tank. I kind of have a stock list in mind but wanted to run it by some of the experts here on MFK. Keep in mind this is just a grow out tank, not intended to last for the lifetime of the fish. I am open to any other recomendations as far as stocking goes, and any and all advice is welcome (filtration, compatibility etc) So the stock list I was considering is:

1- Silver Arowana (2 inch estimated)
1- tiger Oscar (2.5 inch estimated)
1- TSN (4 inch estimated)
2- Clown Loaches (2 inches also)
1- Black Ghost Knife (also around the same size)

Yes these fish are all VERY young which is fine with me, as I would like to enjoy getting to watch them grow. I can also be sure that they weren't raised on feeders and I have to take them off.

Any problems or concerns or advice with this stock list? Thanks in advance.

And just wanted to mention I already know about cycling the tank. so thats no problem

i would take the oscar of you stock list because a tsn has a slender body when small if the oscar wanted to eat it or was big enough to he could and if not he would probly break the fishes spine i have seen this happen when i put a 5 inch tsn together with a 5 inch oscar and then next morning the spine on my tsn was broken and he was floating at the top

wow, would it matter if the TSN as already bigger than the oscar when I got it? Or does the oscar have a much faster growth rate so he would catch the TSN in size fairly quickly? just wondering?

IT DEPENDS ON THE INITIAL SIZE DIFFERRENCE I MEAN YOU COULD TRY IT TRY IT BUT I'M AFRAID IT WILL END UP THE SAME AS MINE DID AND AS FAR AS THE GROWTH RATE GOES IT WOULD DEPEND ON WHICH ONE ESTABLISHES DOMINANCE OVER THE OTHER

With big fish like yours, two things will happen to that 100g....
1)It will become a sump for a much larger tank that will be housing your now growing monsters,

or

2)It will become a growout for feeders to feed to your up coming monsters....Whatever the case, adding any fish to this all ready noted council will mean that your getting a really larger tank for ALL, or seperate showcased tanks between the gallons of 120-300.....I like all the fish above...Maybe adding a school of 100 Cardinal Tetras will add more life to it....

Ok, so far as compatibility the biggest problem will be between the Oscar and TSN.. I think I can handle that, thanks for your help clownie

and sorry for the confusion importracer,
this is a stock list I am considering, I don't already have them in the tank and yes I only wanted this to be a grow out tank, I realize it would end up being more like a sump for their permanent homes once they reach even close to full size... sorry for the confusion

Any more advice anyone?

I think the TSN will end up eating everything else in the tank. And there is absolutely no way a 2.5" O could eat a 4" TSN.

Their growth rates would have nothing to do with dominance between them. Unless he severely underfed the TSN, it should have a much faster growth rate than the oscar.
