  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i know where this is going

another tig, aro, dat, pbass tank

guy, lemme just get this out

you should stock your tank with fish that you want, and not what everyone else wants.

when i started my 180 i did my own research of different fishes through different books, magazines, internet sites, etc etc.

be creative and stock it the way you want, with whatever you want.

and..........

NO FISH IS TOO DULL FOR A 740 gal
!!!!
he asked for suggestions... thats what they all gave him....

Stump,
I also have a 750g and stock it with fish that I've come to appreciate through many years of fishkeeping. Do all the research you can and keep in mind that opinions including my own are just that and you should fill your tank with whatever style fish you have a passion for. Best of luck:thumbsup:

Saw a similar size tank that fit the non-African look already mentioned. One or two tigrinis, a couple of aro's, some large peacock bass, a flowerhorn, some super sized severums, pair of tiger mota's, and the killer look to me--three red bay snook which are 18" long.

On the other hand, I could go the other way with a sand bottom, 300 cardinals and some killer discus. I also think a large tank with hundreds of cardinals and plenty of large koi angels and every rare pleco I can get my hands on would be fantastic.

Great size tank--do what makes you happy is good guidance but you have some nice options.

I'd get a pair or two of convicts and let them go wild! Give them lots of smaller hiding places. Then I'd put three oscars. A red, a tiger, and an albino. See if you can find the veil tail varients. Then an Arrow, an electric blue dempsey,TSN and call it a day.

Actually I'd throw in a school of 20 black phantoms to add interest as the other fish grow and their numbers dwindle.

I have been reading through some of the different forums and I have changed a few things on my stocking list. Let me know what you think about this setup.

Bala Sharks - 6
Tinfoil Barbs - 6
Clown Loaches - 6
Motoro Stingray - 2
Fire Eel - 1
Tire Track Eel - 1
Silver Aro - 1
Jack Dempsey - 2
Blue Dempsey - 2
Tiger Shovelnose Cat - 1

I know the Dempsey's may be pushing it but I really want them.

I know ill get some ray lovers angry here.
but I think you should skip out on the motoros.
they munch your fish.
and your other fish=lunch.

I like the bala idea.
they're awesome in schools.

I personally think that is a great idea if you can get your TSN to not eat everything in the tank. I deff think that stingrays are a must though.

Your tiger shovelnose will outgrow and most probaly make a meal of all your fish except maybe the arowana and ray. They have enormous mouths for their size, and along with the red tail catfish, are famous for eating their tankmates.

I've been out of the fishkeeping business for quite awhile, but I personally couldn't hang with a tire track eel. I whad my tank set up with caves and hiding spots and plants (plastic) and that son of a gun would get to "swimming" through the gravel and knock everything over. Maybe he just had a complex as it seemed the other fish weren't too fond of him either. lol
