Hello. I just wanted ur guys opinions on what i should stock my new freshwater fish tank with. I have not gotten it yet. I want to plan out the fish that i am going to keep before i get the tank. I was planning on getting somewhere in between 180 to 300 gallons. I want predatory and fish but not just one single fish in a tank. I don't want africancichlids though. Any ideas? Thanks.

I have had experince with oscars and central american cichilids. I also have had experince with tetras, cory cats, and other community fish.

With the 300G you maybe able to pull off some rays with other fishes?

Well with a 300 id do something cool. A big datnoid. A tiger fish. Rays. Maybe an arowana. Or if you wanna do just cichlids then red terrors, jack demspey, jaguar, cuban, red devil, severums. Maybe catfish?

this is nick. over and out

With those tanks what i would do is...No matter what size tank...the main attraction would be rays on the bottom in the middle peacock bass and if going with a 300 a black aro on top...

Of coarse you can add other fish with the peacock...just i woudnt add any thing with the rays...just because they will use every inch of space...

He said he only had experiance with oscars, and a few other things... Am i the only one who thinks that rays are way to big of a jump? Rays are for really advanced hobbyists not saying he is not advanced but you can never have enough practice. I would recommend a clown knife fish. They are beasts and make anybody who sees them say "WHAT IS THAT?"
But they can get 30+ inches but in a 300 gallon it would be fine... You could also get some bichirs... And since that would be all bottom-middle swimmers you could also add some medium sized fish that stay towards the top and middle like South American or Central American cichlids... GOOD LUCK!

^ Imho, we all have to start somewhere with monster fish such as rays... And as long as the OP does his research, i dont see why he couldnt venture into that direction...

Especially since this is MFK, no better place to start looking for tips on ray husbandry...
