Stocking a new tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hey,
200x55x55 are 605 litres which should be 160gal.
It's important that potential new fish fit to the actual stock so if you say Astronotus would be too aggressive it would be ok!
I am not trying to force a stocking that's not working out in the end!:)

Since I've never kept Astronotus I can't tell if they might be too territorial to be kept with calm fish such as Mastacembelus, Polypterus and Datnioides.
That's the reason for me asking about its compability to the stock.

You could pick what you want for your future stock and put in a divider between them and the dat until you rehome it

Hey,
nah the reason why I am getting this tank right now is to provide enough space for the Datnioides.
The thing is I do not even know if someone is going to take it when it´s small.
All people I talked to would take it if it´s been about 20cm in length but this will take some time.
To not bind myself to the Dat ('cause I know I will) I want to rehome it as soon as possible but I have to think about the worst case which would be me having to keep it permanently.

Kind of.
I ordered a Datnioides polota which is the smallest Dat.
About 30cm max. length.

But the guy sent me a Microlepis which is one of the largest Dats with 40cm+ in captivity.

He gave me back my money but could not take back the fish so I've to deal with it now.
