I have a 75 gallon that have a few juvenile cichlids in it and I'm looking for advice for stocking when they grow up.

It currently has some loaches on the bottom and diamond tetras for dithers with...

3 inch gold severum
1.5 inch rotkiel severum
2 inch festivum

I'll soon be getting 2 or 3 small (1.5 inch or so) sajicas with plans on letting them grow out and picking 1 or 2 to keep long term.

Now I know that will be overstocked and when they start getting some size on them some will need to be rehomed. My question is with those cichlids what would you rehome and what would you keep?

That's a strictly personal thing. If it were me, I'd probably keep the two Severums. The fish are probably peaceful enough that you keep all three, if you're willing to keep up with the water changes necessary.

Problem is I'd like to keep at least 1 sajica. Would the 2 Sevs and a single sajica work?

I know it's completely personal opinion but would like to hear them nonetheless with the reasoning

I think two sevs and a sajica would work. Again, gotta do the water changes, but they are all generally peaceful (for cichlids), so you shouldn't have a case of domination, but it will be a slightly overstocked tank. I have a 75 gallon with a female RD, a male JD and three convicts. Some would flame me for overstocking a tank, but its working fine, and I'm changing water before nitrates reach 5 ppm. I have lots of rocks and driftwood...

Good info thanks. This is likely what will happen. But if I ended up having to rehome one of the Sevs would I be able to keep the festivum. Or two sajicas?

I'd keep em all and buy a bigger tank. More fish, 2 tanks. You might even get a breeding pair and be raising fry in the 75.

Ha. If it were that easy. Just talked the wife into the 75. It will take a year or two before I can talk her into something else

Personally I'd keep the sajicas as a pair and rehome one of the severums. tetras and festivum should be fine in there too. Up to you really, as long as you rehome one cichlid you'll be fine.

I think long term your looking at trouble.
Full grown Severums are big fish.
I would keep just one pair of sajica and remove the other fish.
People often say I have, this, this, and this fish in a 75 and it's working fine, for how long is another story.
Sajica are great fish,a pair on their own with a few livebearers would make a nice tank.

Hmm that's something I hadn't considered before. I bought the rotkiel because i thought they were stunning but the gold was more of an impulse buy. I think having a pair of sajicas with a sev and maybe the festivum would be nice. I'd rather keep the rotkiel but I'm concerned with him as he's barely growing while the gold is growing like a weed. I've had the rot about 3 months and he's only grown slightly while the gold has went from 2 to 3 inches in about a month and a half. Again thank you for the opinions
