stocking advice

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well I've stuck a list in at my LFS and will decide on what to Polys to get. They recommended EBJD as they import their polys and EBJD from Germany and seem to think that they're a higher quality... not sure if its true but we shall see! I know its about what we want but don't want to unnecessarily be sentencing poor fish to death!

Seen mixed stuff about Syndontis Multis in with Bichirs, and also different types of Plec in with them. Whats everyones thoughts? Guess they're not even needed if regular maintenance is kept up!
Decorus are nice. Very nice looking catfish. Gotta be cautious as they are small and grow slow. The polys will outgrow it and might make a snack. If you can get them in large then I’d say yes.

Most of the meat eating plecos will be fine. You just need to pick out something that wouldnt outgrow your tank.

Dont decorus get like 8-10"? In my tank I have 2 multi around 3.5" a flavitaeniatus at about the same size two Valentini(hybrid) one 3 one 4 and a golden nigrita at about 6" and a bristle nose pleco. 3 delhezi, 2 gold dust, long fin sen, polli, albino sen, Palmas, moke, and 11 ropefish. Cats are fine dont bother the polys and polys dont bother the cats. Now I wouldnt put those cats with large ujs or any ljs. As these are some of the smaller synos not the smallest, but of the ones readily available some of the smaller. I lost a cat to one of the teugs before they got rehomed. Teugs were 17+". Id say del and down in size will be ok. Biggest del is 13-14". Of the polys listed the dels will get the biggest but at most 14".

Most get around 6inched. They are cb like polys.

Well the tank finally cycled and we have some stock!

Took the advice and got 2x electric blue acaras and 2x blue acaras.
Girlfriend got a senegalus and named him Spyro. I'm still waiting on the LFS to get back to me with prices for other bichirs, and am told ropefish are on the order list!
Also got some water lettuce and I love it! Growing like crazy though! Hoping it helps keep nitrates in check. Tap water is reading ~40ppm
