Hello all again. My little sister is starting to get into fish keeping and she now wants to set up her own aquarium, so im gunna set up a 5.5 for her. What i want is a good list of easy to care for aquarium fish that are atleast semi-colorful. I would like the fish to be hardy since..well shes new at this...enough said lol. ok so start posting some ideas! thanks!

dude

go with like 4-5 tiger barbs YOU CANT KILL THEM

Also i forgot to mention that she wants to get a dwarf puffer :/ i will let her get one eventually but not untill she can properly take care of beginner fish. after she gets into the habit of weekly w/c and feeds everyday ill let her get one. what do you guys think?

Maybe a pair of guppies or a few platys...or a really nice betta.

Get her like a ten gallon... the price difference is like $2.00... and then give her some tiger barbs, guppies, or platies.

how old is your sister? my 5 year old has a 5.5.g shes breeding guppies in. For smaller kids its exciting for them to wait and watch for babies in the tank. what kind of tank is this? i dont suggest you get any of the kiddie 5gallons like themermaid ones or things like that, they usually come with horrible filtration and you will pay more for the tank for being pretty or cute rather than useful. Get her a 10g start kit, cant go wrong.

If she's willing to feed live worms, then Dario dario would be a good option. They're extremely colorful!

Bettas are always easy and colorful.

its a rectangle tank and it has everytihng (heater, rocks, light, filter, ext) i had one that i used to breed swordtails in for a while. i would get her a 10 but the parents wont let me"you have to many aquariums as it is!" lol :p

betta tank is the best bet, very safe choice.
3 male guppies would work.
The dario suggestion is great,if she is willing to feed live diet.
If you have hard water a single lamprologus ocellatus gold would be very pretty.
