You should get 1 neon tetra..........jk......how about Africans?
My choice, the mbuna are very colorful, get to a nice size and seem to be always moving. You could put a nice sized tropheus colony in there as well.Someone suggested the eartheaters which is what I would like to try someday.

Well I have africans in a 45g now, They just aren't as interesting as my last SA setup with a chocolate, jack dempsey, and firemouth cichlids.

I would go with a bunch of south american cichlids, or maybe a native tank.

Oscars, If you like SA personalities imo you can't go better 'n an Oscar. 125 or 180 a Pair of Oscars or a single Oscar would go well with some of the other larger SA's of mid range aggression. And if you like the oddball or unique go w/ some Wilds. or go the other route w/ veils.

Porcupine Puffer are great guys to have an they really really smart but they are salt water. fresh water Fahaka puffer both get pretty big

Deffinitely the tetraodon lineatus or Fahaka puffer. They get to around 18 inch in length are predatory and loaded with personality. Your mileage will vary when it comes to compatible tank mates.

Are wolf fish compatible with other tankmates?

if you put wolf fish with tankmates, the next thing you see if your wolf fish alone, or your tankmates missing chunks of meats, why not getting bichirs they are cool fish and there are few different species you could get.
