Stocking ideas for 35 gallon tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The 31x18x18 tank would only suffice as a growout tank for a JD. I consider a standard 75 an acceptable enclosure for a full grown JD.

moreover, JD are not desirable as a solo "wet pet" species ime. They are reclusive and nervous when kept on their own. They seem to exhibit much more character and personality when surrounded by lots of dithers or other smaller cichlids.
I have found them to be fairly outgoing when kept by themselves, and on here people have said a 40 breeder is acceptable for a jack dempsey and this tank is fairly close to the size of a 40 breeder, so I think a jack dempsey will be fine in that tank

I have a 35 gallon tank with
3 peaceful angelfish, 4 zebra danios, 2 rummy nose tetras, 5 serpae tetras, 1 butterfly hill stream loach, 1 sumo loach, 2 Asian bumble bee catfish, and 1 albino bristlenose Pleco
Temp is around 74 and ph is 7.5

What cichlid could I get with this?
Would Firemouth cichlids work or are they too big and aggressive?
Thanks for your help.

I've never seen a jack dempsey break 10 inches and I've only seen 1 blood parrot over 8 inches and that was a king kong parrot cichlid
BPs can get to 10 inches but the biggest issue is they get bulk like a pumpkin and have bioload like an O...My lfs has an older pair in the 9-10 inch range and they're nearly 4 inches thick and about 6 inches tall. He might have a bp on the smaller end but there's no way to tell while the fish is growing.

Hi guys, next Month im going to set up a 35 gallon/162 litres tank.
80x45x45 cm
31x18x18 inches
I really dont know how to stock it.
I think i prefer to have a “wet pet” or generally only one fish but a big one (obviously accordino to the dimensions of the tank)
Im not really an expert so i ask for your advice.
Thanks

What about an apple snail and a smaller catfish or plec?
