Hi all,

Over the course of the mext 2 months, I'm going to get my 500 up and running again. I had to take it down becasue of a stand issue in June but that has been squared away. I've been doing some research for ideas on what to get but I'm not getting anywhere. I'd like some sugesstions from MFK.

Current fish that will go into the 500 (96X36X36):

10 Clown Loaches
2 Bala Sharks
1 Common Gold Spot Pleco

My thoughs on stocking:

5 more Clown Loaches
3 more Bala Sharks
3 Lima Shovelnose Catfish
2 more plecos (Green Phantom, Sailfin)
5-6 Angelfish

I was leaning toward some Geos, but I think that may overload me with bottom dwellers.

What I would like is 1 more species that occupies mid to upper tank level and that grows to about 8-10 inches max so that I can get a group of 5-6 of. My water is neutral and soft. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

They don't get quite as big as you are wanting but silver dollars maybe?

banded leporinus?

I had one of those before. It was the biggest fin nipper I've ever encountered.

I've thought about silver dollars. Maybe I should put them back on the list of possibilities. I was hoping to get someting with a little color as Bala Sharks are mostly silver. I've though of Tin Foils but I've had them in the past and not sure I want to do them again.

Insignis, Festivas, servums and/or Hoplarchus gets my vote.

Depends on the fish. But yes, all SA fish.

Black Ghost Knife and/or eel.

I really like the look of the Hoplarchus but a google search says that they like acidic ph in the range of 5.5-6.5. Do you think they would be of in 7.0-7.2 range of ph?

Also, Insignis and Festivas didn't come up on a google search. Is there more to the name that I would need for a search? Thanks.
