Stocking ideas for a 10g ?

Depends on the shrimp. I would go with an algae eating shrimp, like a red crystal, amano, cherry, etc. In a planted tank with a decent light they will get most their food from the tiny amounts of algae that grow naturally in the tank (once the tank is established and mature, obviously). You can also just drop pellets in. They are very low upkeep.

Also, another consideration, if you get a species that's easy to breed, you COULD occasionally feed your other fish some fresh live shrimp. Up to you.

Do you already have the tank? Fluval makes some really cool little tanks for stuff like this. I've been thinking of getting one myself to set up as a shrimp tank.

Just get whatever is available locally. :)

If it makes you feel any better, I've only ever seen the lowest grade for sale on the mainland. ;)
