Still on the hunt for pictures to show you:

Of course, this is a much bigger tank but you can surely think about how to do something similar in smaller scale (BTW, please note the black background) ;)

Another one from the same site but a different thread:

No wood here, only rocks... It is more than worth it to read about the setting up of that tank... that guy is amazing!

That site is indeed great for inspiration... here's a picture from another thread:

Only wood this time... please read the thread to see how he built the arrangement (I believe it's the same guy as before).

Dude you just like doing things the hard way. This is a small tank that should have taken half the effort that you applied to it, to set it up. Why didn't you just spray paint the back lite blue and jet black, would have taken like 10 minutes. Why didn't you just add 75% water from another exisiting tank and then you could have added real fish right away. And yes the filter would have been started from the fish waste in the 75% of water from the exisiting tank - you were that worried about the filter you should have poured the fish waste water directly through the filter so that the filter aould held the bulk of the dirt. But you wanna do things as if you have never done them before, and you have no other tanks. What gets me is that you have exisiting tanks with fish waste in the tanks and filters, but yet you wanna use one of those Aquarium start up biological filter starter crap kits. WHY?
I just don't get it, you like reinventing wheel over and over again:screwy: c'mon your not even making improvements your just reinventing over and over.
I did introduce the old water through the filters, and I used a crap starter kit because I found one when clearing out room for the tank so why not. It's taking so long because contrary to popular believe the international bank of Yanbbrox is low on funds at the moment. The auqascaping is not finished, which I would like to be completed before I add the fish, and most importantly what's the big rush?

Lou thanks for the pictures above I've had a quick read but I'm running seriously late for work, so I'll comment later:)

An updated picture of that tank... the wood arrangement is more pleasing, I think...

Imagine a better job on the filter on the left, a few plecos here and there and a nice shoal of Altum angels...

Pfff, this is how one ends up with a dozen tanks! lol

I totally agree with this :)

Finish the entire aquascaping then you can slowly add the fish :)

Lou,

I back from work if you could call it that as it's a bank holiday here and boredom has forced me to come home 5 hours early;)

Thank you for digging up some aquascapes just emphasize how poor mine is at the moment. :irked:and;)

Although all three can not be described as unimpressive, I'm not a fan of one and three for some reason, personal taste I guess, I do like the reworked one apart from the filter. The second one is very good, even more so after reading the thread and seeing the work that went into it.

Don't forget a 900l tank gives so many possibilities to go large so to speak but to replicate something similar in miniature I would have to be very very good. Although it may sound like I'm being negative I'm not, they have given me some great ideas.

As you mentioned before the wood looks a but crap being so chunky as it is so I'm thinking of cutting it down into smaller pieces and then using it to give extra height to the tank. Also if I can acquire some larger rocks to set off against the wood then I think we'll be in business;)

Thanks for the research and time :)

I'd offer to ship you some really nice rocks. All the large rocks in my tanks came from lakes and rivers. I don't see a reason to buy stuff that I can just pick up at the local park, lake, or stream. But shipping rates just jumped by like 3%~5% do to the wonderful price of gasoline. Thank you Bush.
