hey everybody not sure if im posting this in the right section but here it goes ive had aquariums pretty much all my life non over 100 gallons tho and no serious predators ive always wanted them just couldnt but i finally got a big tank its about 150 maybe 160 gallons with all the stuff with it (heater filter lights lids) now i only have one problem.. i have no clue what i wanna have in there theres so many options what do you guys think i have always loved arowanas but just some suggestions of what i could have together would be greatly appreciated thanks!

Oscar, Gar, Arowana, Pahranas/Pacu, Snake Heads, Birchir, and Red tailed cats seem to be among the monster fish commonly kept. I'm trying to start a species behavior forum soon which should help. I own a 6" arowana and a 5.5" gar which are both just a blast.

stay away from the rtc they ways outgrow what u think will be ok for the time being and at a faster rate then u will anticipate.. but theres so many options it just depends on if u want single species or like a semi to aggressive collection woth a couple to more then a couple.. so yea any ideas of where u want to head so we can assist??

yeah i was planning on avoiding rtc even tho i love them and there really cheap at my lfs but yeah i dont wanna put it through thaty i definatly want an arowanna i just dont know what else to get with it i want a few different species of predators the only gar at my lfs are needlenose so idk if those are okay with aros tell me what you guys think of what other species to have thanks

Bichirs are always cool. I just got a bkg but not sure if that is the route your going. Knife fish in general are cool though. Piranah are just big and well they are what they are. Peacock bass are nice to. Please promise me though you will not go the way of the dark side and buy a flowerhorn. Way to much money for a fish that looks like it got wacked on the head.

haha yeah i really like peacock bass i was thinking of them too i have alot of options it seems like and hell no no offence to flowerhorn owners but i dont want to spend that much for them they are very ugly to me haha i love arowanas i just have no clue what to get with them and im worried about if i wait to long and dont get all the fish at the same size the arowana will eat any new arrivals later on

Gars seem like a good choice, on a whole they are quite mellow (personal experience) they co exsit well with other gar, and are a really beautiful fish. Oh and check out Walking catfish, they are complete beasts

what is the tank dimension? gar is not a good choice for you because you are living in CA which gar are illegal! arowana is fine for a while in a 150-160G tank but not for life. And gar should not be keep with arowana!

haha damn true gars are illegal right? and yeah i didnt think gars would go good with aros and my tank i have right now is about like 6 and a half feet 26 inches high and like 20 something wide i should have a bigger one by the time they get bigger haha
