IME Firemouths are fairly shy when kept alone so if your planning on keeping them, go for at least a pair. Definitely get a Senegal though! they are great fish and are full of personality. A green terror, 2 Firemouths, 2 pictus cats and a Senegal would make for a great semi aggressive tank.
You can keep like 3 or 4 and still get a sen. The fish in my profile pick is a buttikofferi, they can reach almost 16 inches and are mean as hell. That picture was taken when he was about 6 inches. He's around 8 now.
