Hello! My family is moving across the country and I cannot bring all my tanks. They are entertaining the idea of letting me get a 6x3 tank to house an asian aro. Is there any possible tank mates? or is the tank fully stocked as it is. I was thinking maybe one male Retic or hystrix ray? just an idea. Im fine to keep the aro solo but Love the look of rays and aros together.

If I’m not wrong you kept delhezi bichirs, but with 6 x 3, you can move on to the big boys of lower jawed ?. If not you could probably do 1 hystrix/ retic/ marbled motoro. For top dwellers, you can do maybe a shoal of redhooks with the aro. Everyone says their the best arowana tankmates

I would love a Hystrix if i could track one down. Is it try that tank mates on the bottom can cause dropeye in aros? or is it more of a fatty diet that causes it?

Don’t think anyone really knows what causes dropeye, most likely genetics.

If u get jardini or Asian aro it’s almost never that they get dropeye. I rarely see any dropeye in any Asian aros, and trust when I’ve said I’ve seen thousands.

ok what would be the best type of filtration? I was thinking about using a 55g barrel and turning it into a moving bed filter would that work?

Drop eye in one eye can be caused by too small of a tank and the aro getting spooked, injuring that one eye
