I currently have a 125 gallon that has a green terror, Texas cichlid, and crenicichla that is around 6 inches (will get to around 12 full grown). Any other ideas of fish to add to this? Looking for other cichlids with a temperament than can handle what is already in the tank and spread out the aggression of the Texas and green terror. Thanks in advance.

I would get some dither fish such as silver dollars or giant danios. These should distract the fish a bit if you are struggling with aggression or will be nice additions anyway. I wouldn’t add anymore cichlids, you already have 3 big cichlids in the tank. What Texas do you have? Is it the carpintis or the real Texas?

I do really like silver dollars, that’s a good recommendation. I bought the Texas as a Green Texas. I’m not too familiar with CA cichlids (just getting into them now) but it looks like a carpintis from what I can find.

I should have searched up what the cranichla is. It’s a pike cichlid right? I know nothing about them but the giant danios I mentioned above would be a no as they seem like predators and have pretty big mouths. I’ll leave others to give recommendations as I’ve never read anything about them let alone kept them. Silver dollars are likely still a good option as long as you don’t buy them when they are too small or if the pike is fully grown.

Yeah, he’s predatory but leaves whatever doesn’t fit in his mouth alone. I would definitely recommend keeping one at some point, super cool and unique.

You have a melange of cichlids that each come from quite differing water parameters

Andinoacara (GT, from west of the Andes) pre fer a neutra pH (7ish), and slightl alkaline soft water.

Any of the genus Herichthys, are hard water, higher pH loving species (@ pH 8)
Pike cichlids (there are about 100 separate species) usually prefer low pH (below 7) and are from east of the Andes.
Because I am anal about providing correct wate parameters, and not mixing species from differing water parameter habitats, would not keep them together in the same tank.

Silver dollars were a good suggestion. I like red hooks as well. Triportheus sometimes called giant hatchets are another really cool large tetra that people don't often think about. A school of a dozen would look great in there. If you don't mind mixing in Asian fish then the dawkinsia species are pretty cool I like Rohani and Assimils.

If you plan on silver dollars, look up which species stays the smallest. Metynnis hypsauchen I believe stays a bit smaller than its more robust cousins and stay at 5-6 inches. They'll be best as a group of 5 or more.

Other species of silver dollars will reach 8 inches and bigger.
