Stocking ideas

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yeah jags will need a longer tank than 4ft. my jags are very active so i think that they do need the space

lol i think the jags would be fine however, there is a possibility you could get a very large male jag that could hit 16" but even then i dont think it would be a prob. I had a pair of jags in the same as your tank for some time with no trouble.
As for your other options Green terrors are in my opinion very underestimanted and can be just as awesome as any other fish if kept untill maturity.

Ok so far the festae pair sounds nice if I can find some. I might try the jags but I'm not sure because of all the mixed opinions.
How big do texas cichlids get? I saw two at my local fish store that looked cool.

jags can reach 16+in in aquariums, they are also open swimmers so there is no way you can have them in a 4ft aquarium. festae also reach the same size as a jag so i wouldnt do that either. but, if you have plans of upgrading then your tank could hold either of the two for atleast a year and a half, anyway GoodLuck with it :)

texas are on the smaller size of the robust central americans. I ould not really expect the male to get much more than a foot or so. I think they would do very well in your tank man.

I would go with a pair of Motaguense preferably Red Tiger Motaguense if you can get them. They are very similar to Jaguars in apperance and personality.

oh that is a very good call i did not even think of other parachromis that would be better of. Youe you could go motaguense or fredreickstalli <-- i know thats spelled wrong. But these guys most likely wont get more than a foot or so. They have very similar marking to the managuense, That was a great call caveman
