Wow, I'm editing a rambling post I just put up, then realized I missed the last 2 PAGES. Nevermind my dumbazz.

Somebody's not seeing their pike doing his dirty work I could see the severums, as I had a similar issue with 2 of my own. I also had a similar issue with a firemouth and a pike, only my wife actually SAW the pike with the front 2/3 of a firemouth hanging out of his mouth. The pike was also much smaller than the fm. Put a cam on that tank, you might be surprised what you see.

I saw damage on 4 of the 5 or so.....Pikes are sleek and stealth ambush predators. They are psycho. Sorry I made a big deal of all of this. I have an Fh who ONLY picks on my Mayan and no one else. When he is with my RD he owns her ONLY......I have never seen a pair of Xingu's with mates for long...They could all live together forever in harmony, only time will tell. I can only share what I know and have seen first hand...

Well, it wasn't that I thought it wasn't needed. I read page one, posted, then realized it jumped to page 3. At this point you guys were on to another subject (and I was in a hurry to get off the computer) so I couldn't read it all. So yeah, that's was my opinion. By the way, how did you quote my unedited post????

Pikes should only be kept with equally large, equally aggressive fish. Not just one or the other. If you want to keep them, I'd clear out the semi aggressives. If you want to keep the semi aggressives, I'd clear out the pikes. With the semis, you could add jd, gt, chocolate, various geophagus/satanoperca. You could vary your size down to festivum, port acara, etc. A lot of that hinges around the sevs pairing and how they will be with tankmates. If you wanted to go with the pikes, you could look at a jag, festae, rd, texas, or still possibly a jd/gt. These are all just fairly common species, so the list could go on and on with combinations you could use. Also, I don't think I'd do the barracuda with the pikes. What I know doesn't extend into that category of fish, but if I understand right, they don't do well with overly aggressive tankmates.
