Im thinking of starting another 80 gallon tank, and wanted to know your guys opinion as to whether this would be overstocked or not?

-1 tiger oscar
-1 firemouth cichlid
-1 convict cichlid
-1 Jack dempsey
-3 pictus catfish
-1 4-lined pimelodus
-1 Sailfin Pleco

I have had success with this combination of fish before, so I was just curious as to how this would go over in an 80 gallon with about say 450 gallons per hour filtration?

get a 125gal because u will need to upgrade when they are all full grown.

Half to full grown, its entirely overstocked.

-1 tiger oscar - 12 inches
-1 firemouth cichlid - 6+ inches
-1 convict cichlid - 4 inches
-1 Jack dempsey - 8-10 inches
-3 pictus catfish - 6+ inches EACH
-1 4-lined pimelodus - 4-6 inches
-1 Sailfin Pleco - 15+ inches

In all honesty, a better mix would be the JD, a convict and a pictus, MAX...and even that would be pushing the water quality (bioload) unless you do 40-50% water changes every few days.

if it were my set-up, I'd lose the Oscar and get a smaller pleco (bristlenose?) and then I think you might have something (?)

I also would do only 2 pictus cats . . .

With that tank and filtration, its either just the oscar or all the rest. Not both.

Alright, I was already thinking that the Oscar was going to have to go....so it looks I'll do that without the Oscar, and one of pictus's. And do jd's really get to 8-10 inches?

I think you could expect at least 8" for a male, but 10" is not out of the question

Good quality male JD's should reach at least 10" if cared for properly. A buddy had a 10" female in his line breeding ebjd project.

For adult fish and maximum movement I would do just the Firemouth, Convict, Jack Dempsey, and 4-5 pictus catfish. They never stop moving, so the bottom of your tank will be active adn the other three fish will keep each other busy with territories and what not.
