Hi this is my first post. I finally joined after lurking for a while. I have to say that this forum is the most practical and expert filled fish forum I have ever seen, so I am super happy to finally join this community!

On to my question though. I have a 75 gallon and am able to upgrade to a 125 gallon at Christmas. The fish stores near me barely stock anything out side of african cichlids and angels ,so I will be buying online. If you suggest a not-so common fish I would appreciate a link to a site that sells them.

I would like the tank to have a chocolate cichlid. I have read a lot of conflicting things about the chocolate cichlid size ,but I have yet to find one online that was larger than 8 inches. In general the care sheets I have read conflict in one way or another. If the chocolate cichlid really does fill up the 125 by him self then I would consider a different species. Assuming the 125 would have room for more than just him what species would you guys recommend? The tank has sand and driftwood if that matters.

I really like the way Severums, green terror, T-bar cichlids, firemouths, and jack dempsy look. Would any of these work? I am pretty sure green terror will not work ,but I figured I would ask anyway because I really do like them. I just do not know all that much about cichlids having only ever kept T-bars and firemouths. Maybe a species I did not list would work better? I am open to most anything, including not getting the chocolate cichlid at all.

Sorry about my post being all over the place!

That tank is very nice! I like the angels ,but I am not sure that is the type of tank I am looking to do.

U should just go with a one fish tank and get a dovii or some kind of peacock bass I love my orinos and azuls where are u actually located are u wanting a preditor tank or more of a community tank

I live in South Carolina. I tried googling Azuls cichlid and orinos cichlid and could not find any matches, are those words slang for something?

I want more of a community tank with more than just one fish.

Edit: Oh I see those are peacock bass species my bad. Not really interested in peacock bass.

Are u interestef in keeping a group or single fish ?

Viejas are some of my favirote can be nasty though most of them would take over the tank (argentea, zonatus, bifa, syns)

Bocourti are cool as well as pearsei.

I am interested in a group of fish. I do like the way the Bocourti look however.

Also I know this is the cichlid forum ,but I am open to more than just cichlids.

Silver dollars, tiger barbs, blood parrots, clown loaches, frontosas, peacock bass and many more. Just named a few of the common ones people usually keep. I had a school of vieja synpsilum got them at a local fish swap meet for a good price.

Best thing is grow them out as young and watch them grow and pair off.
