That length should be good for the odoe, do you have a grow out/QT tank? The only thing is the bichirs and odoe are predatory and your fish may come in at different sizes and grow at different rates

thats an epic tank. I dont really have a growout tank, I've got a couple 10 gallons but I dont have room to keep any more tanks. im replacing my 75 gallon with the 155, and don't have any other room. I'm planning on getting the knife and silver dollars first, letting them grow to a point where they won't be at risk, and then ill get the pike, and then the endli. if needed, I can keep something in a 10 gallon temporarily but obviously that won't work for long, if at all.
Thanks! That should work. My odoe grew about 5-6” in a year, my endi grew from 3”-15” in a year. So you definitely want to get the endi last. Have you seen lapardei bichirs? They look similar to endis but aren’t as aggressive or voracious but get similar in size
The odoe will be more of a solo fish as far as other similar fish and is much easier to get off of live, the cuda do well in groups, have bigger teeth and were very difficult to get off of live, some people never get them off live. They’re behavior was pretty similar, just kind of cruise around. So it really comes down to what you like more. I kept both together without issue, but I’ve heard that’s risky
Here’s a red tail cuda, hujeta, odoe, Malawi cuda and chalceus in my 180. This mix isn’t recommended but it worked for me. I later added a tigerfish and 2 more rt cuda and removed the odoe and hujeta
ok so I had bought the silver dollars about 2 months ago to let them grow out, but they just recently died of an ich outbreak while I was out of town. and honestly, they were way too shy anyways so I dont think ill be buying more. I really like the idea of Hepsetus Odoe, BGK, and Weeksii bichir, but I would like to add something else for more activity. I wouldn't be opposed to duplicates, i.e. 3 BGKs, etc., or maybe some kind of cichlid. However, with the Odoe and BGK I would like some floating plants and background plants for a sense of security. If you guys have any ideas, LMK
